Annual Back-2-School Shopping Spree

Each year we help 75 to 100 children in-need by providing them with adequate clothing for school. 

For those of you who have never participated in a Children's Shopping Spree, here are a few details to help convince you to volunteer. This is the club's hands-on activity with underprivileged children of our community.

How it works: Throughout the year the Reno Active Club works tirelessly raising money through volunteer work, fundraising, soliciting donations, etc. in order to host these events.  Then, twice per year the Reno Active Club takes underprivileged children on a shopping spree where the club uses all of that money to pay for the clothing that these children couldnt otherwise afford.

The Children are bussed in and paired with an adult volunteer who then helps each individual child pick out and size the clothing they will need for the school year.

THUS THE MORE WE COLLECT AND THE MORE VOLUNTEERS, THE MORE CHILDREN WE CAN HELP!                                    

What you can expect:      

On the day of the event, we meet the children at KOHLS (70 Damonte Ranch Parkway) at 6:45 am. This is early in the morning, but it will definitely be the highlight of your day, month, and maybe your year.  The store opens 1 hour early specifically for this event!  Once the children arrive we pair them up with an adult to begin their shopping for school supplies, uniforms
      Our ideal situation would be to have one adult per child, so that we are able to do our best bargain shopping and give the children the one-on-one attention they deserve. Additionally, Spanish-speakers are needed to assist our non-English speaking children, at any language ability level. Each child will provide the adult with a slip listing their shoe and clothing sizes.  Mervyns will also offer us an additional 10% discount and waive the sales tax on these purchases. As well, we will provide each child with a backpack full of goodies to take home.

We encourage everyone, to come out and participate in giving back.  This is one event that there are absolutely no age restrictions on.
